Voopoo Rota Review

Voopoo have entered the pod market.  But does the Rota prove to be another gem in Voopoo’s crown or is it more like the bell on their jester hat?

Voopoo have recently had a small rush in terms of new products, counting around 5 released or due to be released.  The Rota however stands to be the one to stand out the most, a spinning device and Voopoo’s first pod system on the market.  Offering to be small, discrete and well performing, Voopoo could well have a hit on their hands with vapers.  However does the Rota perform as well as the usual high standards or will Voopoo be forgetting this one like they forgot about the Voopoo 2?  Before we get into that, let’s go through the details first.

About the Voopoo Rota

The rota is a small pod system that comes with replaceable pods and usb charging.  The device is a 360 mAh internal battery which charges in around 60 minutes fully charged via USB port.  The device has a rhombus style design with indicator light and usb port underneath the device.  The middle contains a large fidget spinner style disc which allows the device to be spun, with no leaking from the pod.  The way in which the fidget spinner part works is that the device is bottom heavy so will always self right back to vaping position.  The indicator light lights up when taking a pull with an automatic draw system in place.

The pod is a 1.8 mil capacity pod with 1.5 ohm coil inside.  The pod has a bottom fill hole, with removable silicone bung and bottom placed airflow.  The pod simply pushes into place with no clasps to open up.

Voopoo Rota Pros

The first thing to say about the Rota is that it performs exceptionally well.  I have been using a fair number of pods recently from both simple to replaceable parts and the rota has proven to be extremely reliable.  The device feels solid and well made with a good added weight to it. The device is metallic with a fancy paint job, best way I can describe it and overall you can see the manufacturing is high with this device.  I love the feel of it in your hand, very much comfortable and with the self righting of the spinner, means you won’t be holding it upside down by accident.  Battery life for the device is fantastic compared to similar lower powered devices, I have easily got several hours out of a single charge and the quick charge time means it won’t be long until you can start using it again.  The indicator light is bold and visible in daylight, which is always handy when seeing if the device is responding.  The automatic draw system is another pro for me because it allows you to take much longer pulls than most other pods on the market, which is great for a DL vaper who wants something a little bit more stealthy.  For the fidget spinner part itself, there is no issues with it, it is smooth and as mentioned, bottom heavy so a quick spin and you can carry on using the device.

The pod itself is not bad for a little pod device like this with the more restricted airflow.  Flavour is better than average, less than a Nord mesh coil but much stronger than most other pods on the market, you can taste the liquid quite well, just without any complexities in there.  Juice consumption is really good for a pod system, one pod can last more than one day with only use as intended, which is always going to be a pro.  Vapour production is good as well, with the longer draws so you can take a bigger hit when required and the coil wicking keeps up even when using thicker liquids.  The coil performance is pretty good, I have been using this for over a week and the pod still hasn’t lost performance at all which makes it a viable option for people looking for a reliable pod device.  There has been no leaking from the pod at all and filling is very easy, with the pod securely in place as well.

Voopoo Rota Cons

The first con will be the elephant in the room is the fact that it doubles up as a fidget spinner.  This won’t appeal to everyone but I do have my theory as to why they went for this design, more on that later.  So straight away if you don’t want a pod system to be spinning at all then this will be a con for you.  With the small internal battery that will always be a slight con as Voopoo could have doubled that and still maintained the low profile of the device, just to give added vaping time.  The pod can bubble up when filling I found with no real way of undoing that, so this can take up some juice capacity if it happens to you.  Other than that, there isn’t that many cons you can offer about the device.

So on the surface, the Rota is a very high quality small pod system that performs really well, works as you would expect and has had very few drawbacks so far. The biggest thing about it will be the fidget spinner design, but I think I have a very good theory as to why they chose this design.  As the pod system is designed ideally for smokers looking to quit for their high nicotine tighter draw vaping style, the spinner may have a use here.  Cigarette withdrawal can lead to relentlessness, so having a pod that spins can prove to be a distraction whilst being able to help with the nicotine as well. Whether you think it is a good idea or not, the idea behind this potentially is quite good in a market dominated by similar pod devices.  I would recommend this at around £25 for sure, it works really well and will prove to be a handy little device.

Voopoo may have sent the pod market spinning with the Rota, they have certainly made their mark with this one.
